Welcome to Huggett Hideaway!

The newest “addition” to our family, we purchased this little slice of heaven in Fall 2016 after years of searching for the right place to call our second home.  With Christian’s years of cottaging at his grandparents place, and my own upbringing near the beautiful Pacific Ocean, it just felt right to work towards our dream to own a place on water (fun fact: owning a home on water has been on my bucket list since I was 16!)

After a few months of (mostly) cosmetic renovations, as well as some not-as-exciting work such as grading the driveway, upgrading the wood stove and updating appliances, we are excited newbie cottage owners.  The best part?  You too can come and enjoy Huggett Hideaway on beautiful Clear Lake!

Our 4 bedroom cottage is available FOR RENT!  Located just 2 hours north of Toronto, our place is the perfect spot to unwind with family and friends.  Here’s a little photo tour to give you a better idea of what’s in store for you:

From sunrise to sunset, the view is perfect.  The cottage boasts a double-tiered deck and a jump-off-the-end dock out over beautiful Clear Lake.  And, we can assure you that the name doesn’t lie: the lake is wonderfully clear and deep!  Perfect for swimming.  Also, our lake is a smaller one, which means it is generally quieter, has limited boat traffic, is great for paddling, and….it warms up earlier in the season!  Even our little guy is happy to swim in the lake 🙂

The inside is roomy without being too big – it was important to us to keep that cozy cottage feel.  Over approximately 1100 square feet you’ll find 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a window-covered dining room, kitchen over-looking the lake, and a great-room with wood-burning fireplace.  The cottage is decorated with all the Canadiana favourites: plaid, wood, and HBC stripes!

The bedrooms offer many sleeping options for you and your guests: 1 x King sized Master Bedroom (facing the lake!), 1x Queen bedroom, 1x single-over-double bunkbed, and 1x double bed.  There is also a spacious bunkie with 2 extra double beds and a couch for additional sleeping space!

We’ve included many home-away-from-home comforts as well, including a washer/ dryer, dishwasher and gas range.

Outside, you’ll find all that you need to play all day!  There is a Weber BBQ for all your summer grilling, outdoor fire pit for marshmallow roasting, ample deck space, including a full outdoor sectional sofa and sun-lounger on the lower deck, and even beach toys for the kids.  Both decks also include sturdy, latchable baby gates to ensure safe play outside.

For those wishing to get out on the water, there are 2x kayaks, a Stand-up paddle board and a pedal-boat available for use.  The lake is the perfect level of calm for lots of paddling…get out on the water and say hello to the 3 loons who call Clear Lake home!
